Stay underwater longer by hyperventilating first. It isn’t the lack of oxygen that makes you want air underwater, it is the carbon dioxide that builds up and makes your blood acidic. But, when you hyperventilate, the influx of oxygen lowers blood acidity tricking your brain into thinking it has more oxygen.
